Annelie Falkevall and her co-workers showed that modulating the signalling pathway that controls lipid accumulation in the kidneys might be a possible strategy to treat diabetic kidney disease. Quantification of specific lipids by lipidomics analyses done at the Swedish Metabolomics Centre supported their studies.
